The story of The Paradigm Shift came originally from a dream. Many of the characters were later shaped and developed, but the essence of the story was in the dream. At the end of the dream I was instructed by some sort of inner voice to write the screenplay.
The screenplay took many years to complete, mainly because of early financial pressures – taking months off to write a spec script doesn’t put food on the table! But I would always return to it, inspired by sudden flashes of inspiration that came from somewhere to elevate and move the story forward – seemingly sent at specific times mostly not out of my own choosing.
Whilst working on an early draft, a British Hollywood producer called to say he was very excited about a synopsis that I had sent him. Unfortunately the director he worked with thought the action a little tame for him and therefore, after three months on tenterhooks, it was finally passed on. Financially, of course, it would have been very rewarding, but I knew deep down that the script was only 65% developed – with other important elements not yet envisaged or created.
Once the screenplay was completed, I decided to turn it into a book, mainly to get the the story out to a wider audience and to stimulate more interest from potential film producers. Transforming the screenplay into a book has had its challenges, but I believe it has turned into a good read. My intention, however, is still to get the movie made – which I believe both the story and message warrants.
With regard to inspiration, I saw a plaque on a wall whilst waiting for someone at a healing centre near Bury St Edmund’s in the UK. It read:
“THE PLANET DOES NOT NEED MORE SUCCESSFUL PEOPLE.
THE PLANET DESPERATELY NEEDS MORE PEACEMAKERS, HEALERS, RESTORERS, STORYTELLERS AND LOVERS OF ALL KINDS.”
I’m not a healer nor a restorer, but I believe I can write a meaningful story. Although the journey has been long, with all kinds of trials and tribulations, I feel the book was meant to be presented at this time.
